  • 86-89 Mazda 323 13" wheels......Help

OK....I have located a set of 4 pre-1990 13X5 Mazda 323 wheels, I noticed while searching that my current 12s are 12X41/2" & Mazda 323s had 13X41/2" & 13X5" wheels. Will I have any issues if I run the 13X5s, will there be any interference problems with the extra 1/2" ? What size tires can I use without any rubbing issues? Thanks for your help "oh collective of knowledge". :notworthy:

slap them on, you'll have NO problems fitting them. personally i'd try to find a 165 70 13, but a 175 70 will fit as well provided your suspension is in good shape in the back.

I am running 88 323 wheels with 175-70-13 on them and I have only rubbed a couple times when the car was fully loaded with 4 people in it

IIRC, one or two folks who had older 323 alloys have run mild spacers at the rear depending on tire size, load carrying, etc. Nothing extreme.

I run the 323 alloys with 175-60-13's on them and FMS lowering springs without spaces, and haven't had an issue with rubbing.
But, rarily have 4 people in the car.
An extra engine/tranny, and other parts but not 4 people!

            Thanks everyone for your help!!

I appreciate everyones responses....very helpful. So here's what I ended up with. I live in Tulsa Oklahoma, I made a 100 mile drive to a salvage yard in Joplin Missouri.

            4-Mazda 323 Steelies 13X41/2 $80 cash
4-Walmart/Douglas (made in USA by Kelly Springfield) 155/80-13s $185
Fuel $20 (saved $15-$20 over the shipping charges + got them same day)

So $305 to make the switch from 12s to 13s.

The Walmart was 1 mile from the salvage yard, they figured out one of the wheels was bent, so good idea to get tires before I left Joplin, salvage yard happily exchanged bent wheel for a straight one. So nice parking my 05 F150 and spending the day cruising in my "Silver Bullet".

BTW, turns out I'm missing 2 hub caps/covers, you know....the ones that cover the spindle nuts....anyone have a couple they can spare or sell??

            Todd

PS: hit a couple garage sales last weekend, elderly gentleman sold me 3 gallons (seals still intact) of Peak Antifreeze for $1/gallon........so did a flush & refill this morning in anticipation of the winter weather.

Didn't realize you were talking about steelies, I assumed alloys, my fault.

You do know one of our members is close to Joplin, MO and make regular trips North.
