  • Aspire brake swap Lower Control Arm questions.

I feel as if I have read everything available on the brake swap.
yet I still have this nagging question.

Please confirm.......are the aspire lower control arms used on the festy?

Or as I have read.....festiva with festy.......aspire with assfire ?

I am not going to lower the car, and it will run on 13" aspire steelies for now.

Use the festiva control arms. Some have used the aspire ones and some have had problems.

I just went out and compared an Aspire control arm with a Festiva part.

The Aspire arm is about 1/2" longer in total length.

At the stabilizer bar hole, it appears to be about 1/4" greater distance at the hole center.

IIRC from the old board, at least one person has used other Aspire suspension parts in concert with the Aspire control arms to do a conversion. He said it was a lot of work and it wasn't worth it to get that extra front track, IIRC.

Unless you have a lot of time and want to experiment, forget using the Aspire control arms.

If you do do this, document it carefully so you can share your findings. Who knows--there may be a good way to do it. However, remember that increasing front track may also require enlarging your front fenderwells.

If you use the Aspire front control arm you need the Aspire front sway bar AND the Aspire axles for everything to workout correctly... FYI... If you have access to all those parts I'd say go for it, if not stick with the Festiva LCA's and Festiva axles... -Kyle

          Great info from everyone.

I know this helps more than just me.

I got my axle hubs back today with new properly preloaded bearings and seals.

          Ass-emmbly resumes tommorrow.
