  • Aspire vs festiva tie rod ends

so i am doing the aspire swap now, and ordered new aspire tie rod ends... i was anxious to get it done, so i just left the festiva ones on for now until the aspire ones arrive, and the festiva TR ends fit into the aspire hub/spindle assy with no issues... whats the real difference? aspire ends arrived today, and appear to be identical...
i do know that the aspire and escort gt tie rod ends are the same, but if i am having no issues, can i use the festiva ones???

Not sure, in my experience I ordered Aspire tie rod ends off eBay and they were identical to my festiva ones....

the seat diameters are different between festy and aspire. EGT ends are longer than aspire ends so either cut down 3/8" of the EGT end or take the keep nut all the way to the stop to get it close.

thanks.. i will swap in the aspire ones anyway, so if i put white out on the current festiva inner tie rod threads, the new aspire outer tie rod ends will be the same for alignment issues i would assume..

the conical seat and threads are the same but the body length is different.

Arty, are "keep nuts" the same as "jam nuts?" I'm confused.

I've used straight Escort tie rod ends without any problem. I think the GT ones are the same as regular Escort ends, too. Am I right?

as i needed to replace Caety's tierods, i looked up EGT and escort ends and they came up as two different part #s.... and yes, keep nuts are jam nuts.

this is all from my experiance using pepboys parts.

here are the festiva and aspire outer tie rod ends side by side

                    Festiva Left, Aspire Right

I have an Escort Gt out back too... whenever I tear into that, i'll pull the outer tie rod off for fun and get a picture with my festiva tie rod end
