  • new and need help with tires

I just purchased my first festiva and I think its great. I bought it from an old man who absolutely babied the thing. Its an awesome car and I wish i would have known about Festiva's earlier. The weird thing is that all of the wheels are stock (they have the ford hubs!!!!) but they have different tires on each. The front right and left rear have the 145 R12's and the front left and the right rear have 155 80R 12's. I need to replace all of them because they are all cracked and in terrible shape. Which should I get? Both types are available. thanks in advance for the help.

          I disagree!
The door sticker was for the OEM wheels:

          Alloys got 165-70-12

          Steelies got 145-80-12

So what if someone swapped on OEM alloys for a car which originally had steelies? Then his sticker would say 145-80-12 and that is not the OEM size for alloys.
Besides many, many of us use are using 155-80-12 and the real difference is the quality of the tire, accuracy of the balance, and the proper inflation pressure.
I have several cars with the 155's, and they perform every bit as well, if not better than the OEM tire recommendation.

Is that a 12" metro wheel?

haha thats what I meant by right rear. I'll just turn that into the spare so then the wheels will kinda match. So from the sound of things the 155 80R12's are good? tire barn said they could order the stock 145's but that it would just take a week or so. With the 155's what do you keep the tire pressure at?

                          That's what I was thinking.
But, not sure, not too many other 12" wheels out there that will fit.

I'm not sure if they are metro wheels. I just purchased the festiva no more than a week ago. Its in decent shape and it was cheap! lots of towing miles only a few driven miles. but he sold it to me as if the miles were all driven. I need to get the dumb tow bar taken off but I don't have a rack.

155's can be good and I've had some poor quality one's too. Pressure depends on whether you want a comfortable ride of best MPG and get up and go. MPG is max tire rated pressure, you get used to the blood in your urine. Less painful and lower MPG with less than Max side wall pressure, but I would not go as low as the sticker on the inside of the drivers door. That is for a smaller 145 tire, the 155's will require a higher pressure to give a similar ride. You may have to do some experimenting.

OEM/Stock were Yokohama's are good, but not a great tire. Haven't seen too many none Yokohama 145's.
