Wondering what the best rim offset on a 14 with 195/45/14 is? I will be lowering on coil-overs and wanna tuck the wheels a bit into the fenders.

Best offset for "tucking"

Probably would be able to tuck more if you ran a skinnier tire stretched. I'm no wheel expert though"Lane, I've been going to this high school for seven and a half years. I'm no dummy."

The current project car had some 15x6's (not 14's i know just adding insight) with 195/45/15s and they fit fine with spacers in the rear with stock suspension. however when i broke down the rear to install the RaceLand coilovers they would not fit due to the "taller" springs/lower spring seat on the shock body. springs would hit the tire and inner wheel lip and that was WITH a ~3/8" spacer. not quite what you asked but i hope this help[s a little.

I see in almost every wheel size thread that a VERY large percentage of guys forget that there is an actual backspacing # given to every wheel. They say their tires rub and wonder why, because they put 14x6's like everyone said. But the offset that Mental asks about is the key. I used to have 15x6.5 with a 38mm offset and 195/45 tires and they fit PERFECTLY. Guaranteed they'd be better that any 13 or 14 with the WRONG offset. One day everyone will be edumacated.
I will have to look into the actual site, but I used to work at a custom car shop that had a diagram that told you EVERY measurement needed to calculate the proper offset needed. Punch in the #'s and there you have it. I will post it if I can find it.

Well the kids that are tucking call it "fitment" because here is so much guesswork/luck involved if you are unsure on how to take measurements. No rubbing is like winning the lotto for them. I remember a really clean yellow integra with 5 lug jeep wheels and some stretch. The car as a whole seemed to show he could afford any wheel and tire combo out there but everyone was so excited about a throwaway oem jeep wheel LOL.1993 GL 5 speed
It's a MazdaFordnKia thing, and you will understand!

If you use Aspire struts in the rear, they have a higher spring perch and will clear wide tires better, allowing more tuck.Last edited by drddan; 06-30-2011, 09:57 PM.Dan
