    Aspire swap rear spindle question

    I started swapping my rear beam tonight and noticed something odd. The spindles seem to be reversed, as in the rotation of the wheel could loosen the nuts. I know they are locked my the nut covers and cotter pins, but it seems odd that the passenger side is left hand thread, and the driver side is normal right hand thread. I never removed the spindles from the backing plates when I took the beam apart to paint it, which means either this is normal or the owner of the aspire switched spindles at some point.

      Dammit, I guess I'll have to switch them then. It's very odd though, when I first got my festiva the stock rear spindles were on the wrong sides too.

        That's the normal way. Idk why, but that's how all of mine have been.
        Im not driving a Festiva because I'm poor. I drive a Festiva because i want to!

          I just wish I would have noticed before putting the whole beam in, it would have been a lot easier to switch the spindles off the car. Oh well, not that big of a deal to do it on the car.

              if they were the way you THINK they should be, when the bearing locks up, it also forces the nut to tighten and then sieze to the wheel. this is not good.

              LEAVE THEM ALONE!

                Whoops I misunderstood. I guess it's how you look at it, but i would think that if a bearing locks up you'd rather it drag you to a halt than have your wheel fly off.

                    Forgive my ignorance, I'm used to dealing with non serviceable cartridge bearings. I'm glad I don't have to redo the rear brakes though. Thanks everyone.
