OK so I just found out the my master cylinder was leaking and need replaced ,,, question is what should i replace it with escort GT ,aspire, or festiva.... I plan on doing the Capri brake swap ( I have the stuff to do it just need tires for the 14's) just wanted to know what master cylinder would be best with the Capri brakes?

The aspire is the most strait forward. Just rebend the front line from the side to the new position on the top side, swap your old resivoir with the level sensor over, bleed and done.
Im not driving a Festiva because I'm poor. I drive a Festiva because i want to!

I'm lazy by nature and completed an Aspire suspension/brake swap without tinkering with the existing Festy master brake cylinder (which was smaller than on the donor Aspire). My brakes have been grand ever since and I have no misgivings about not going to a larger system. But if you're pushing lots of fluid (Escort Gt type brakes?) maybe it's worth it but otherwise maybe you want to leave it alone unless you enjoy fiddling.

Thanks guys I just wanted to know what would be best with the Capri brakes, also in the escort gt master cylinder wright up it says to use Volvo oil pan drain plugs to cap off the hydro clutch line could you just use the auto escort gt master cylinder and not have to worry about the plugs ? probably will just go with a aspire one just didn't know and the escort one is cheaper

I have the Capri XR2 brakes and stock Festy m/c. I like this setup fine; I was actually worried that the Aspire m/c would make the Capri brakes more prone to lockup, especially when wet. In other words, I think there might be more leeway using the less-powerful Festy m/c.

I did exactly that on my girlfriends car. Same bend as for an aspire master cylinder. I just used the reservoir that came with it from rock auto. It was for a '97 Auto escort without ABS.

Then you can snip a fluid level connector off of an escort at the junkyard and solder it to your old reservoirs connector.

I have an egt master cyl with an auto aspire booster. I did the aspire swap and basically had no pedal with the stock festy mc/booster.

I'm with Tom on this one, i like the progressivesness of the capri swap and festy M/C combo (i can still lock 'em up too, but now i can take it to the limit JUST before lock-up and i like that).

BUT, it depends on how the car is going to be used, and choice of tires. I'm thinking of sticking on some high-performance summer-only tires, which will be super-sticky (and wear quickly). These will not tend to lock up nearly as much as normal all-season touring tires, so in this case I could use the Aspire m/c with little worry of lockup, at least on dry pavement. This would be more for aggressive street driving and autocross use tho, and I'd do it only if I decide to keep the car and go with a turboed B6D or B8.

FMS has them for $20 something with reservoir. I paid $40 something at Advance with no reservoir.
