  • Aspire to Festiva MC and brake booster

Has anyone put an aspire power brake booster and master cylinder on their festiva?
Or even just the aspire master cylinder?
I know the aspire master cylinder has one port facing horizontally and one facing vertical as opposed to the festie's facing only horizontally,
but is the aspire master cylinder in fact larger, or more to the point, more powerfull?

I'm pretty sure the Aspire MC has a larger bore or chamber. Go to Rockauto and they should have some specs for one of the brands they sell. I've seen them listed.

(Also be aware different years and models of Escorts had some variations in their MCs.)

I would've done this swap but my Aspire MC had no reservoir on it so I took it back when I couldn't get my Festiva piece off of it to use.

Maybe next time! I'd also love to know if the Aspire brake booster will fit and work as well. Luxstiva will need a new one when I redo her.

Well I looked at them on Rockauto, but hadn't noticed any specs.
Supposing they are bigger, I'm wondering if the performace difference is dramatic, if anyone can testify to that particular swap.

Ice, here's a link but it may not go to the info:

Auto Parts for Your Vehicle at Reliably Low Prices. Fast Online Catalog. DIY-Easy. Your Choice of Quality. Full Manufacturer Warranty.

          Rockauto lists for the Festiva:

          Dorman #M39720 (E8BZ2140A) at 7/8" bore

          Raybestos #MC39720 at 3/4" bore

          Wagner #MC116690 at 3/4" bore

          For the Aspire:

          Dorman #M390211 (F4BZ2140B) at 13/16" bore

          Raybestos #MC390212 at 7/8" bore

Raybestos also is listed for "European" and "American, automatic trans" this one:
          #MC390211 at 13/16" bore

All of the above are for non ABS.

I think the second # for the Dormans are Ford part #s.

So yes, some bore differences, perhaps between auto and manual transaxles? That's my guess.

Aspire seems to spec a slightly larger bore.

I still have a Festiva MC on my Aspire suspended car and the pedal goes down farther than it should because it's not pushing as much fluid to fill the larger calipers. Technically, a small MC is more powerful than a larger one but must travel farther.

I put one in one of mine, I used one of the lines from the master cyl to distribution block off the aspire, bolted right up.
