Need advice on rim shopping

I want to get some nice wheels on Bruce, but found it very difficult to shop on-line by size.

Also, I thought i had read that 5'' wide was the max we can run on stock suspension and not rub. Is this right?

you can run up to 7", but 6" will work best with what's out there. offset is your biggest concern as far as rubbing goes.

for a 13's. it will work best with a 5.5" width mags. the front has a less deep than the rear. there are seldom 6" width that don't rub.

for 15s, it would be a 6.5" width w/ +40 offset paired w/ a 185/45 tires(not sure if there is locally available there). those are the specs that we are using here in the Philippines. our hubs are already converted to studs. no spacers @ front. 1/2" spacer at rear.

I have run 13x5, (rubbed with 205/60s but not with 155/80s) and 13x5.5 (no rubbing with 155/80s) and 13x6 (rubbed a little on fenders with 175/70s). The offset on all those were either 35 or 38.

seen at the picture is my 15"x6" mags from a honda integra. it has a +50 offset. at the front i use 3/4" spacer. at rear, it's a 1". my studs are 2.25" long. fender rolled at all sides. no rubbing issues.

we use here is a 165/65 tire spec. that's also the stock tires for our festivas(pride) here.

The 185 45 15s make a big differences. They however have to be imported into this country as none of our tire suppliers commonly carries them. I'd be interested in buying bulk tires through you to resell here, everywhere I go people want these tires, there is a market here.

We do have a few choices in 195/45-15 at reasonable cost, which is good and should work well with 6-7" wide wheels. They should put the car about 10mm higher than stock tire sizes. The 185/45-15 size in question would lower that another 4.5mm to around 6 or 7 mm higher than stock, and would be perfect for a set of New MINI "phone dial" wheels, which are 15 X 5.5" and weigh around 12.5 pounds.

I would love to see more 50 series sizing in 13 and 14" tires:

185/50-13 (-10)
195/50-13 (-5)
205/50-13 (~stock)
175/50-14 (-3)
185/50-14 (+2)
195/50-14 (+7)
205/50-14 (+12)

All of the above estimates (measured in +/- millimeters) are mathematically worked out, so should be taken as approximate values. The reason I began with the 185/50-13 is because we do sometimes have access to the 175/50-13 size (-15mm). Simply add 5mm to that for the 185/50 height, and so on. When changing rim diameter, add 12mm for that additional 1/2 inch when the width and aspect ratio is the same. In other words, I began with one known quantity and did the math in my head.

My "Festiva driving experiences" have been with 155/80-12, 165/70-12, 165/70-13, 175/70-13 and some 175/60-13 (fronts). Based on these experiences I'm liking the area around 8 to 12mm taller than stock. This sizing fills up the wheel well nicely without being too large, seems to do well with fuel economy, yet is not so tall that rubbing is a problem and the tire itself should not weigh so much.

I am certainly interested in putting some money into importing one or two rare tire sizes in relative bulk for reasonably priced purchasing.
