  • Front Brake Swaps

We know that Capri XR2 front brakes will work. Now someone needs to find out if Escort GT or Protege GT brakes will fit.

I'll try to get a set of EGT/PGT uprights from my friend.

Be sure and grab the rotors while you're at it-we need measurements to see which ones are most worthwhile. I'll measure the Crapi XR-2's tomorrow evening and report back.

Hmmm, wonder who said it won't work ?

If people are saying it won't work, then they have no motivation to make it work. Everyone surely must know by now, nearly everything can be made to work.

Like Fred said, strange no one has bothered to get these on a running Festiva for so long. That's really too bad. I did put out some suggestions people look into using it as an answer to the lack of big brake options:

        Off 2002 FF.Com site:

Capri spindle also would require shortened strut from the way it looks. Capri bolts from behind like Festiva rotor, soooooo......

I do not have info on Escort GT rotors or hubs at this time, but if you can make them work for any of the possible swap combinations where a large 10" front brake is required, they would be the best choice

Sorry, have to clarify my earlier post , " not bolt-on = not bolt-on replacement ".

        Saying it " won't work " and " it's not a bolt-on replacement " are two enitrely different animals.

I can elaborate more, but I think people would rather just read up on more findings.

Look about 1/2 way down the thread. That's where the pics of the installed knuckle are.

Edit: I promised I would find the diameter of the Crapi XR2 rotor. Here it is.

Deduct about 1/2" for tape measure deflection on the hub and we get a 10" rotor.

Anyone know what diameter the Aspire rotors are, or do I have to get off my ass and go allllllllll the way to the garage to measure the rotor sitting on the floor under the Festiva?
