  • Front Festiva springs installed in rear

So I was about to swap my front Festiva springs onto the rear struts and noticed that the front springs are just a TOUCH wider (diameter) than the rear spings and don't sit perfectly in the perches like the rears do. I've read that some people have done this swap, but how do you overcome this problem, or do you just ignore it and it just never is a problem? Someone approached this topic in this thread: http://www.fordfestiva.com/forums/sh...gs+rear&page=2 but it never got answered.

    Advice anyone?

3 7/8 inch diameter for rears and 4 1/8 fronts. Consequently I have not contemplated moving springs around from front to back. I figure you should poke around at JYs with a tape measure and see what else is out there with springs such as you wish. Now if you can find a dead Aspire they have same diameter springs but stiffer and longer. Rios are becoming common parts cars but rear springs are altogether different; fronts are compatible though.

I'm running cut front springs in the rear with Monroe Aspire struts and they fit in the perches of the strut and the top of the rear shock towers with no problems. However, my springs are a tad short so if I jack up the rear the springs will come out, but driving around I'm careful to not go crazy over bumps so they will never come out, unless I jump a ramp or something.

How do you like the front springs in the rear. Is the ride stiff?
