Wheel base has something to do with it but how are you going to get the rear end to swing out when the front wheels are pulling the car along?

not to mention there are no upgrades for this car to turn it into a drifter...

now if you wanted a drifting festy, drop your center of gravity, and turn to rwd using miata rear axle and either a bp or a b6 miata motor and then boost it.

custom driveshaft and thousands worth of custom work (unless your damn handy with a welder like i am) and you will have a rwd drifter festy.

fwd is not exactly an ideal platform for drift... do some homework on drifting, not just watch it in F&F movies, and notice how the best drift cars are all nissan rwd (240, silvia, 300z), mazda rwd (rx7), honda s2000 (rwd) or other rwd cars...

usually the champions of the game know their stuff

or i could be wrong  and fwd is the ultimate platform for kicking out the rear end!

Probably just not very controllable... Shortwheelbase is also not ideal to drift because any inputs are more drastic.. -Kyle

dude your f***ing kidding me right...

drifting is a controlled POWER slide (as in power spinning the wheels to have the rear wheels spin)

your idea of drifting is ripping the ebrake and flooring it so your front wheels make smoke.

Note to your self: YOU CAN NOT DRIFT A FWD CAR

p.s. this is what stupid movies like fast and the furious TOKYO DRIFT do.

Every car I have owned has had a turbo in it, until I bought this latest festiva.. I plan to fix that though.

                    think outside the festiva box

read idealsocietys quote. My father runs a salvage yard and i was going to covert this to RWD using Miata parts. Originally i was going to use a Miata but people want way to much for one in good shape so i found one recked and I'm going to switch it over. But getting on a forum with people who hate their cars isn't helping. Yes i have money, time, and the know how. Yes I'm marvelous with a metal. Maybe you guys should watch Monster garage. The point is to have something that nobody else has but forget it, I'll just stick with the Miata and keep this as a part delivery vehicle...much more helpful forums. Maybe you guys should sell your festivas seeing as y'all hate them so much and leave this forum for people who like these cars and want to build on them.

                    p.s. I have a 240 and I don't like it in the drift!

we dont hate our cars, its just unrealistic to think a fwd festy as a decent drift platform... now switch it with miata drivetrain and you might have something... a lot of work but it would be badass to see a well made drift festy! i say go for it if you have the time/money/expertise... i think most members here will support you in that endeavor

Quite a premature assertion considering the 1000 + membership of this forum, that " we " hate our cars; based on the responses of such a few.

                              Yeah I hate my cars...

                              look at my sig..

I think the only reason people are giving you a hard time is that the new Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift trailer has been airing.. And anyone who has actually built and raced an import loathes those rediculous BS movies..

So starting a thread about drifting makes you sound like you're 13 and just saw the trailer..
