  • Aspire brake swap FAIL

I was pretty excited about getting the swap done (even bought some miata wheels) on my car, but after seeing the underside of Rusty, I think I should find a better donor. This car has some serious corrosion. I really don't want to put this junk on my car, it's in too good of shape for that.
I am thinking of pulling the front sway bar. The E-Brake looks pretty bad. The best thing on the car is the speedometer, and it has a broken needle. The engine has a blown head gasket.
I was hoping to sell it for scrap metal, but I will probably have to donate this car just to get rid of it (title issues).
Is there anything I am missing, before I send it to the crusher?

BTW... My daughter did the custom paint, but the car was destroyed before I got it! lolol

Take a wire brush on a drill to it. That and rustoleum should make it good for a while.

If you don't want the brake swap I will take it off your hands!!

But for real, I am interested in it, rust or not.

The cluster is sold, sorry. I will look at the seat belt to see if it is worthy.

IMO you can still clean the suspension parts. It will take a lot work though. But a media blaster might do trick.

Did you find that at the bottom of a lake? I've never seen an aspire that rusty, and I live 5 miles from the Great Salt Lake, and the streets are covered with salt 6 months out of the year!

It wouldn't surprise me if it went through a flood, although, it was originally titled in northeast Kansas.
Maybe I will still try to get the parts off and have them sandblasted, it's a lot more work than I wanted though.
I am worried about how I will get rid of the shell, with no suspension and no title. Any suggestions?

Cut it in half with a sawzall..check with the local scrap places, some don't care. If you have an air compressor harbor freight will set you up with a 25 lb box of sand(gonna need sand for that) and a gun to shoot it for less than 50 bucks, and they're fun to use!

Have you never been to Ohio? Haha..that's considered "minor rust" on the local Craigslist ads for any s10(other cars too s10's are the worst.)

Our local scrap guys would haul it no problem. A truck, a wench & drag it up into the bed of the trailer and of they go!
