You can use Aspire ends (with Festy inners), but Escort ends are, for all practical purposes, the same and costs less.

Yep, Escort tie rod ends are simply cheaper than Aspire. Plus, more choices at different price points. EGT ends should be the same as standard Escort ends, too. I use the year 1993 or 1994 when I order them since those are the middle of the Escort years.

          I got my Sumitomo HTR A/S P01 185/60/r14's for $250 shipped from www.tire-easy.com

          Just an idea.

And the 01-early 02 Rio stuff is the same. The easiest way to tell what it is in the yard is the early Rios have the two bolt strut mounts in front that we need. I paid $200 for both knuckles, calipers, struts, and mounts.

i'm sure a forum member needs some extra parts. i am doing my kia rio swap right now. got all kia parts from JY $180. and cut the springs down a tad.

i am using festiva tie rod ends and they look fine.

They "look" fine, but the taper isn't the same. I forget the angles involved, but they are different enough to matter. If you switch to ends with the proper taper, you'll notice that they will fit better.

Re: I'm starting my first Aspire swap

What about the Rio tie rod ends?
Will are they the same as aspire/escort?

I bought all the components from an 01 Rio.
Including the control arms, and tie rods.

I already know the control arms won't work. The guy just threw it all in as part of the deal.

Anyone tried using the Rio master cylinder?
I've got both booster and Mc, I can see booster won't fit without some cutting, but was wondering if the Mc would make a difference?

Well, funds have been very short due to my crap waiting job, so I think I'm just going to complete the rear and ride around on that until I get ahold of a steering knuckle. Apparently that loud grinding noise coming from my right rear wasn't a bearing. I'm guessing during the last brake job this thing got, the mechanic forgot to put in the brake shoe retaining springs, causing one of the shoes to fall outward and grind into the drum. I just grabbed some off the aspire drum. However, I think the spindle nut was slightly crossthreaded so it only goes on barely snug, so I just staked it and it's been like that for about a week of gentle driving. However, I want that aspire rear on asap.

Also, how do I tighten the rear spindle nuts on the aspire rear end? Preload, torque, etc.

12-18 ftlbs while turning hub with other hand. Then back off the nut, bare hand tighten and pin it. I bump it 1/8 before pinning
