  • 13 inch Tire Sizes

Hey my Festiva has 155/80/13 tires on it. I was wanting to go with a bigger tire on the rim, I dont really like the Pizza Cutters. Does anyone have any suggestions on tire sizes??

    Thanks a lot.

175-70-13. I've run that size before, handling was much better than the 155's.

I may get some 165/65s next to put on my Honda VX rims. Seems like a good combo of low profile and light weight, with a ride height of about 5mm taller than the stock 165/70-12s and 145/80-12s (and a few mm less than the 155/80-12s).

The joy of VX rims cannot be understated... they're so lightweight that steering is an absolute breeze. Combine them with sticky enough tires and you'll have a very responsive ride so long as your front suspension is up to spec!

Nice to know Aaron. I haven't yet experienced them on the car. Since I want to maximize my tire to wheel width fit, I put my 175/60-13 Falkens on my 5.5" wide Estrellas, but I'm sure the Falkens would be fine on the 5" wide VXs. I just prefer them on the wider rim. If I ever get any wider 13" tires I'd prefer to mount them on 6" wide wheels.

I think these tires would be perfect on the VXs:

Another member here is satisfied with his Achilles tires in 155/70-13.

(Note: I can't really endorse Tires-easy.com any more since another of our members had some big problems with them. We think it may be a regional distribution center issue. My four separate orders from them were all perfectly timely and accurate. "Let the buyer beware.")

What width is your 13" rim? If it's 4.5", the widest tire you should put on it is a 175. I agree that a 175/70x13 or 165/70x13 would be better for handling, and the 175/70s are easy to find. Many manufacturers make that size.
