  • Suspension lift Not wild just a little more ground clearance

i have 90 festy with a 92 FI motor. I currently have digital camo paint and the car has seen better days. it is my daily driver and farm use vehicle. I was wondering if i could get an inch or so of lift without affecting the driveability too much. I know you can put uncut aspire springs and struts on the front. What option do you have on the rear? I only want an inch or two lift. Any help is greatly appreciated. i tried searching just couldnt find anything about lifting, only lowering? TIA

If you use Aspire Monroe shocks and Aspire rear springs, that will give you the lift you're looking for. :thumbright:

The rear shocks if not monroe built but still original or any other brand have a rod from the shock body down to the lower eye. Cut the rod in half and weld in a piece of 1/2 inch pipe. Cut another rod the length that you wish to lift and drop it into the pipe, then assemble the two parts together and weld the other end of the pipe. Make sure the pipe is a couple inches longer than the lift so that you have over lap, much easier.

Thanks for the replies. I think I will do the aspire setup and see how that works, should be somewhat of an upgrade to. I will also look at the shock mod for the rear. I'm still running 12 inch tires so it should work fine. I just don't want to have to have any alignment issues.(or as little as possible)

If you lift the front very much at all it gets real interesting including alignment issues..

I hear that the aspire setup is roughly an inch or inch and a half. I guess I should get the aspire cv axles.

Been doing some thinking and have been toying with the idea of getting some strut spacers for ky stock setup until I do a full swap. Has anyone ever tried strut spacers? I can fabricate some fairly easy.

Mine is lifted. 12inch 150lb springs in the rear. KIA Rio with 1.5 cut off. Its has stock clearance above 175/65-14 tires. Its about 2 inches higher over all. Still computing correct spring size to purchase new fronts that are not cut.

No as well, you need custom lower control arms to go high enough to need that. The inner cv from the left aspire axle is a benefit. It has longer thrust and fits the festiva shaft and outer.

I installed uncut Aspire springs on the back of my car last week and it now sits quite a bit higher than with the FMS springs that were on there before. With 22" diameter tires (OEM are 21") I have about 2 1/2-3 inches between the top of the tire and level with the lip of the wheel well.

Aspire struts and uncut Aspire springs, front and rear, on my festy, and I love them! Better ride, clears my 195/60/14 tires. I run about off road a bit and the extra clearance is great.

$15 each at a junkyard off of a 97 Aspire.

I'm going to go that route. I hope they will be that cheap around here. Maybe some of you guys upgraded to rollovers and have some aspire struts laying around? Ha

So called about 4 junkyards within 30 miles. Only found one that has three festys and they are all shells with interior and body panels. I can find the aspire struts new reasonable but does anybody know where I can by the stock springs for the aspire? Sorry to keep beating a dead horse with this thread.
