  • Quick question about wheels

I'm running low on funds so I'm just going to get the aspire rear on, get some tires, and ride on that until I can find a steering knuckle. I'm choosing between 13 or 14 inch steelies, most likely from an escort or Rio. However, out of curiosity, do most wheels require spacers for this setup?

    - 1996 Ford Probe SE 2.0L Auto 126,000 mi
    - 1988 Festiva "Hermes" 1.3L Carb. 4-spd. 167,000 mi (Found a new home)
    - 1994 Escort GT, 5-spd. with Pacesetter header, and exhaust kit 101,412mi (RIP...T-boned by ditzy driver)
    - 2002 Hyundai Accent 1.5L Auto 164,000mi (Wow...so this is air conditioning...)
    - 1991 Festiva, 1.3L 5-spd. 75,802 miles. Goes by "Trixie"

IF you use the Aspire rear struts and 13" wheels I would think you wouldn't need spacers.

But it's going to depend on the back spacing of the wheels, size of tires, etc.

I haven't used any spacers on any of my wheels swaps (which is only 3) on stock Festivas and haven't had any issues.

One has Aspire struts and one has the Festiva struts.

But, I'm only running 155-80/13 tires.

    Just my 2¢.

Stick to offsets between 35 and 45 and you shouldn't have any trouble with average sized tires and wheels. Go over 6" or 185mm wide and things could change.

      Here ya go; read this:

Those would rub going over bumps, but it was the fender edge, not the strut. If those had been 175 wide tires or less it probably wouldn't have done that.
