I've done the huge galant brake swap.
All of my future builds will have straight aspire/rio swaps.
Its just not worth it.

ok, i'll be working on this particular Spectra today so i'll get better measurements, BUT, the whole idea behind this is tu use the Spectras longer LBJ mount to force the LCA down in relation to the chassis. this should help correct LCA angle when lowering the car. also, there may be a chance of a lower steering arm centerline which will correct bumpsteer.
as far as proper spline count: either press on a sleeve to allow the festy/capri hub to mate to the spectra bearing, or take the inner tripot apart and fit it with a festy unit (easier than swapping the outer CV). another solution may present itself later.Last edited by FestYboy; 05-30-2013, 09:11 AM.

It's been a while since I checked but I'm pretty certain you can use 14" wheels with the Capri "Galant Big Brake Upgrade"Originally posted by Advancedynamix View PostIf you machine ( some people use a sander or grinder) the ears down a bit on Capri hubs then Mitsubishi galant rotors fit over them on the outside ( you'll want to press in longer studs) and then you have to use EGT calipers iirc to get 15" minimum brakes with 4x114.3 and stock spline . AZGTX has this setup on his car. It's a cheap and simple mod. Also makes it so you don't need new wheel bearings every time you change the rotors.
I did it on my GTXR2 & I will be upgrading them on my other XR2 soon. Sooooo worth it. I'll have to check

Escort Wagon calipers also work and are bigger...same setup I am running on FestyculOriginally posted by Advancedynamix View PostIf you machine ( some people use a sander or grinder) the ears down a bit on Capri hubs then Mitsubishi galant rotors fit over them on the outside ( you'll want to press in longer studs) and then you have to use EGT calipers iirc to get 15" minimum brakes with 4x114.3 and stock spline . Every rotor from RockAuto says 4x100. Also they ranged from 246mm to 256mm I think. And they were the same as the Sephia.
I don't see the point.

People seem excited about this. So CONFUSING. Feels like I have elephant blocking glasses on.

Hmmm... Where have I heard about a bigger brake swap that is 4x114.3 before... hmmm... Oh yeah, Capri!!! Outer splines 24! Not saying don't do it, just throwing that out there as an alternative that wouldn't require axleleleleleleleness or "splinedededededness." (to quote Rocketman)

I like where this is going, keep us updated!
What year ranges are you looking at for the spectra?

I like the idea of anything 114.3 x 4
I'd have to give up my "very cool old school deep dish black and polished aluminum Enkei 92's" for any other size.
....no...no...I wont give them up!!! Mwhaahahhahha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

holy crap nice, where's the like button?
I love the idea arty, let me know what happens with this I'd like to get some bigger brakes up front but I believe I'm stuck with stock bolt pattern for the new rims that should be here tomorrow so aspire and rio are out of the question.
Do you think 14"+ wheels will be necessary or would 13's have any chance of working with those? rims are 13's so ... O.o
