  • Strategies for reducing or eliminating torque-steer

I will be purchasing a Festiva project car in the near future. I was dead-set on a B6T swap, but now I'm second guessing things because of the extreme torque-steer. Has anyone taken a serious look at the Festiva suspension geometry and whether it would be possible to minimize torque-steer? Does converting to Aspire hardware effect the geometry at all? Has anyone been able to utilize Capri or 323 front suspension? Are the subframes even similar? Any help would be appreciated.

The 323gt or capri tranny makes all the difference. = length shafts. Also upgrading the suspension helps. Mine pulls fairly straight.

That's basically exactly what I wanted to hear. How much different is it to install a Capri tranny versus bolting the B6T to the existing tranny?

2 more custom mounts. If your a good fabricator then another days work. It's finding the 323gt or capri xr2 that is the hardest part.

I hear the Festiva trans tends to fall apart after around 200hp. What about the 323/Capri tranny? I would like to run about 200hp at the wheels and will probably run some pretty good trans-fluid. Can I expect durability?

How much are the turbo axles worth? I have a lead on a set. Whole parts car actually except for the turbo and interior.

I would expect around $75-100 for the intermediate shaft since that one is the difficult part to get. The other 2 depends on the condition, maybe $25-50 each.

Has anyone ever tried to mount a shock to the steering on a Festiva ,like the 4x4's used to have to eliminate the sudden shock of the wheel when they hit a rut.
I really never looked to see if there was enough room to mount it, but if it would fit like the Rancho's did on the 4x4 trucks ,it may help torque steer too.

It would also make hard turn in a lot more difficult.

$75-100 per shaft, or for the pair? I might have to go get those.

Just for the shaft on the passengers side that bolts to the block. It is not readily available so more $$. The CV shafts (both sides) are available at the parts store so not as much in demand.

Pull them and the tranny's with flywheels. You could make a few $.

I need a set. Does anyone know if the turbo splines are the same as non turbo cause if they aren't I need a turbo transmission too.

A proper LSD should stop torque Steer.

                            Thanks

I do know that an LSD would help, thanks for the reminder. The only LSD I could find for the Festiva trans is from Phantom Grip. What options are available for the XR-2/323GT transmission?
