  • Need ideas for control arms

Ok so after experimenting with the Festicle we graphed a BF control arm to the festiva platform, for the most part it was drop in with the addition to a rear mount. For my next set up i was thinking of something more custom like a tubular control arm, i know shorstiva was working on something but i think hes been to busy to mess with it. So here are the options BF arm which needs a "U" bracked for the rear mount, or a BG control arm which looks like it has provisions to add endlinks for a sway bar and also had a rear mount with 2 ears for easy bolting. Now i would love to have a BF and BG so we can compare dimensions to see which is best. So if someone can get me some please PM me! The 3rd option is a Honda control arm for a civic /Del sol

any other options anyone can think of that may work?

Making one from scratch=awesome. Making a honda bracket to use someone else's research where few of us will exploit its faults=festiva cheapskate awesome, right up my alley. Tonight I just PMEd a member who makes exhausts if he thought that making a festiva downpipe merge to the 300 million oem aftermarket honda systems out there is plausible for same reason

I'm having issues trying to picture this in the Festiva, if this ends up being an improvement to strength and stability, annnd you can make more I would definitely be interested in this.

Stick with the BF arms, the BG ones are longer and put the tires out about an inch on either side, and you will need custom tie rods or rod ends.

This will likely be a winter project then, a wider stance on the car would help with the stability at high speeds on the gravel, gotta make some fender flares though.

Bf it is! Does bf have a bracket with ears for mounting the rear bushings as well? I think ours was missing thus why the U bracket was made.

got some parts from rockauto. Well it appears the Bg and BF arm are the same length. The only difference i can see is the bushing size is smaller on the BF and there are different mount holes on the arms for endlinks. So either arm should work. I know of festicle the arms where not shortened and they did work with the xr2 axles with out any issues. We will have to double check with the new mounts and may need to shorten them but i dont think it will be a big deal?

Finally made some progress on mine.

Opinions? Im wondering if I should eliminate the link at the control arm and just weld the traction bar directly to it. I think that if I left the link in, it would let the control arm twist and bind.

                              ^X2 on pics,
(I'm with you on not needing that heim joint at the control arm attachment point for twist elimination)

I would like to see what you have done at the other end of the control arm (the ball joint end looks freaky awesome man!!!)

i'm also curious on what you guys have used/planning to use for a sway bay?
or is there one on Kevin's car ( festycul ) and i'm just not seeing it?
