  • Full aspire brake swap problem

    Hey,

I have the full aspire brake swap in the pimptiva, and I have a question for BP owners.

It seems like I can't lock up the brakes no matter how much I push them. Do you all think its because of my massive tires and heavy front end? I have bled them already, and they are in like new condition, is there anything else it could be, maybe a pinched line not letting enough fluid trough?

I ask this because the brake lines on the firewall might be getting contacted by the intake manifold, haven't checked yet. I was just wondering if anyone with the BP was experiencing something similar due to the weight.

When I did the BP car I used the complete setup right out of the junkyard. It had a recent brake job. When I installed them I think I got the rotors and calipers mixed up because they wouldn't stop well. Then after a few days of drving they settled in and now work awesome. I bet with wider front tires I could get the rear to lift off the ground.

The BPT is different. Brand new calipers, new rotors and ceramic pads. They don't stop as well as the BP's.

Logan ,you do have more rotating mass than most ,and that will cause a issue also ,Stock brakes Festiva or Aspire ,were not designed for larger than stock wheels , don't get me wrong it will stop ,but not as well as a stock tire diameter..
Anyone that has installed ,like 20" rims or larger with stock brakes , basically has no brakes in a emergency situation , thats why they always stress putting on bigger rotors and calipers when installing large rims

it sucks... i have 15"s with STOCK festiva brakes... i seriously wont tail gate because i know if they slam on the brakes.. they will out brake me. I think a lot of it is old and tired from brake lines... the rubber lines were not designed to have a lot of presure specially 18 years later... Once i get my aspire swap started: slotted rotors, carbon fyber/metalic pads, and SS brake lines will be bought. Hopfully this weekend is i can get fms to pull through for me!!

Every car I have owned has had a turbo in it, until I bought this latest festiva.. I plan to fix that though.
