  • Cars stalls after I put Aspire brakes on it.

Hi everyone! I just bought a 91 festiva about a month ago and I love it! I have plans to do and escort gt motor in the near future. I already did the full Aspire swap with a brand new escort gt master cylinder and Aspire booster. My concern is after i did all the brakes the car wants to cut out every time I pump the brakes. I thought it was the booster I got so I put a brand new one and it still does it!. I was hoping it happened to someone else and they know the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks alot for looking!

Just a wild guess: is your brake booster hose check valve facing the right direction?

They all should have a check valve.definitely worth looking into. Also look for any connectors that could have gotten bumped

Okay I'll look into it thanks! Do you know where the check Valve is normally on the fuel injected motors?

It's in the line between the brake booster and the manifold. Should be a "bump/bulge" in the hose.

Ok I found the valve and it seems to be the right way. I tried flipping it around and the brakes didn't work. Could it possibly be the idle Valve? Or should I just get a new check Valve and try that?

If it works, there is no need to replace. Something else is wrong. Does it due while sitting idle, and then touching the brake?

Yes. If I'm idling and I pump the brakes it will cut out. Pretty much to the point of it shutting off.

I know this sounds crazy, but do you have a way of checking voltage? Just a thought if it's bogging because of electrical load?

Also make sure the idle bypass solenoid, green plug to the driver side of the throttle body, but toward the ground a couple inches, is plugged in. Seems like something got bumped?

If you want to rule out it being a voltage drop issue when the brake light circuit is engaged, easiest thing to do would be unplug the brake switch under the dash. Then try it and see if you get the same thing. Only other thing I'll add, or rather ask, is does it do it when you just smoothly press the pedal down under normal driving conditions? You've mentioned "pumping" the brakes several times, but under normal circumstances I'm not sure why that would be necessary.
