Ok guys I have 90 festiva. See if I'm doing this right. I'm going to buy aspire knuckles. Now along with that I wanna buy 10" escort gt rotors and calipers. And new escort gt tie rods and control arm. Then I have a set of 195-50-15 Konig rollers. This should fit right on correct?

no control arms needed. the only time you need to change control arms is if you do a Capri swap.
someone else will have to confirm the EGT caliper and rotor combo.Trees aren't kind to me...
currently: 2 88Ls (Scrappy and Jersey), 88LX, 90L(Pepe), 91L, 91GL (Skippy) 93 GL Sport (the Mighty Favakk), 94 (Bruce) & 95 Aspire SEs, 97 Aspire (The Joker),
94 Justy 4WD, 87 Fiero GT, plus 2 parts cars. That's my fleet.

The gt rotors are a no go. Calipers should fit as I have them on my 93L.Jerry

The Aspire brakes should stop just fine. I have Aspire brakes on my 93L. I used performance rotors from rockauto.com along with the Escort GT calipers and a protege master cylinder. The little I drove it before breaking the transmission, they worked fine. I'm running 195-50-15 tires on 15x6.5 wheels. DIY coilover's based on advancedynamic's thread. 175 pound front coils and 120 pound rear coils. All coils are 10" in length. Engine is a 92 Protege BP. Trans was an E Series and is being replaced with an XR2 with XR2 half shafts. The front of the car is the blue one in my avatar.
I'm not sure of the size but Rio knuckles may have larger rotors. Maybe someone thats used them can offer more insight on them.
You could use the XR2 knuckles and get larger rotors but you would have 4x114.3 bolt pattern vs the 4x100 on the Aspire swap.Last edited by Team Lightning; 11-24-2013, 07:07 AM.Jerry

I had a complete auto aspire swap done for about three years and after warping/ruining my third set of aspire rotors...(carving the turns in the mountains of NC), decided
to give the car a new home and the new owner wanted to "upgrade the aspire upgrade"
I've just completed a '03-'05 rio knuckle swap (doing this gives you 10" rotors).
IT's running:
2004 Rio knuckles, calipers, rotors, and brake hoses.
1994 escort GT outer tie rod ends
1994 escort lx wagon booster (use a 2000 protégé pedal pushrod connector so your pedal isn't lower)
1989 mazda 626 master cylinder.
I LOVED IT!!!! now lets see if he can warp those big Rio rotors :p
PS....was also running 1991 escort GT wheels with 195/65R15's (I had to clearance all fender lips about a 1/4" and add the coil over sleeve kit to the rear to clear the struts) now the car has 175/65R14 with 1994 escort LX 7 spokes
PPS this car is now owned by "cannonball" on here so he may be able to offer some insight on its current configurationDarren Sehnke

It can be done. There's a couple on here with rear disc but it takes a lot of fabrication I believe. I'm not sure it would be worth the work. Maybe someone who has them can add input.Jerry

Front brake upgrade is biggest bang for the buck.

While we're on the subject of disc rotors, what axle is ideal as a straight swap for the rear?
