  • miata wheels ?

This should be festy related if you have done the aspire swap. I'm going to buy a set of miata wheels and tires but I don't need the wheels. I know that they are pretty common but what are the wheels worth in good condition? I only ask because I can get just the tires for $50 less than the whole ball of wax. I don't care for the wheels but I might just throw them on the aspire anyway and see how they look.

There are a whole lot of miata wheel types. Some are lighter than others and command a premium. Check out Miata.net for more info, prob your best source.

If you have the Aspire swap, all four bolt Miata wheels will bolt up, fit perfectly hubcentric, and have the proper offset for your application. That doesn't mean they will always fit with any size tire, but they're more likely to fit, especially if you stay below 185/60-14 size.

The Daisies, seven spokes (solid, semi-hollow or hollow), five spoke '99 pluses, or BBS wheels are all good choices. All are under 13 pounds.

The stock steel wheels are a bit heavy at 18 pounds, but they'll fit perfectly on your hub.

Can you tell I highly recommend them?

My best deal was a set of solid spokes for $60. I picked them up in my neighborhood less than a mile away! Each one weighs about 11.6 pounds. Talk about "cost effective!"

If you don't mind the stock Miata 185/60-14 tire size, you may find a great deal on a set of wheels and tires already balanced and ready to roll. Anything around $200, depending on the quality of tire would be a decent deal.

I paid $80 for a set of Daisies that need a bit more cleaning up, and need the old tires taken off. I might pay maybe $120 for a really clean set of Daisies. They'd have to be really really nice and clean.

For comparison purposes, I think a set of 14 X 6" AR Estrellas weigh about 14 pounds each. However, they are dual bolt pattern, fitting both Festiva and Aspire apps, which is nice.

I would not buy anything over 15 pounds in a 14" wheel, unless they were dirt cheap and dual fitment.

My primary criteria for wheels goes something like this:

        Do they look okay?

So how much do they weigh?

        Do I need them?

        Is the price reasonable?
