    so, im graduating early next year as a pneumatic/hydraulic "engineer" so to speak. the job will pay well, and i want a pet project. ive contacted a lift shop here in town and am waiting for contact back, but I want to lift my festiva. im going to repaint it (dark gray), black the headlights, taillights and windows out as dark as legally possible, then i want to lift it. enough to put 35"s-40"s underneath it. Not just a hack job, but great suspension, upgraded motor, the works. this will all happen with the following year, but just wanted to get some ideas and feedback on my pitch. anything?

    Can't remember the name of the member, but someone on here pieced together a lifted festiva using some rather both creative and questionable methods. If you search for lifted festiva you should come across it.

      Not gonna say its impossible, but putting tires that big on a festiva chassis is gonna be super impractical. Best bet is to throw the body on a 4x4 frame like a samurai or bronco2 or something.

        As a first step, you can put Aspire front springs on, since they are a bit longer. Put Aspire fronts on the rear too, for the same reason. Slightly stiffer than stock rear Festy or Aspire springs, but not bad. That will give you clearance for larger tires, tho you will probably need spacers in the rear unless you are going to coilovers.

        Here's a suitable 175/80x13 tire, for more height. A 5mm spacer should suffice for the rear (also, get studs for convenience): http://www.tires-easy.com/cgi-bin/rs...n&typ=R-157887
        This tire is 24" tall, vs a 155/80x12 which is 21.8". This gives you an additional 1.1" of clearance, along with the taller Aspire springs giving you a couple of inches. So for little effort you have about a 3" lift.

        Edit: If you use Aspire KYBs on the rear, that has a higher-up lower spring perch, good for about 5/8 - 3/4" additional lift.

        Edit: Here are some 165/80x13s.           Just curios. What you gonna use to turn those giant wheels? 1.3L with factory gear ratio?

            Oops you did say upgraded motor. But I'd think gearing would be crucial. I like the samurai chassis Idea for practicality. Also gives you fwd.

              Tires that big will require a major chassis reconstruction. Your going to need more than a lift shop for that, unless your local lift shop builds tube chassis crawlers. Best bet is to build a tube chassis/roll cage and build it like a crawler. This project will most likely set you back around 20 grand done properly, unless you do some of the work yourself and find bargains on used parts. Even with bargains and sweat equity, expect to shell out over 10K for such a vehicle. Keep us posted on your progress.

                  You can get 1" and 2" rubber spacers that go between the spring and the strut at most parts stores. I wanted to use them on my 93 Escort wagon since I live on a rough dirt road but I sold it before I got around to it.
