  • Aspire E-brake Cable - Why?

    Simple question or 2.
On a Aspire suspension swap on to a Festiva.
Do you really need the Aspire e-brake cable & why ?
Can you use the Festy cable & any problems ?
If it don't fit, use a bigger hammer!

The clevis yokes are just a tad short on both sides. I just cut a couple of clevis yokes off a junkyard Aspire and siamesed them into the existing Festiva yokes. Perfect length + e-brake works perfectly.

Aspire e-brake is a tad longer at both ends (as seen exterior of the splitter) by about 3/8 inch. Merely lengthening one end will offset the centering of the rubber mounting pad so it's good to extend both. My Aspire swap used the existing Festy cable and all I did was unscrew the handbrake adjuster about 1/2 inch. Not ideal but it has worked fine for the past 3 years.
Braves advice to extend the U-shaped yokes at the brake drums is probably best.

        Thanks everyone for the help.
For now I used Berts solution & unscrewes the adjusted , it works.
May try braves idea at a later date.
        Again thank you both.

The rubber-mounted cable splitter will be off-center a little bit from having provided slack via the adjuster, and it may be simply adding a clevis or U-shaped extender on to whatever side needs it, in order to recenter things again, is all that is necessary. Nicely adjusted e-brake pivot/star wheel and lubricated slides etc on my Aspire swap was wonderful for doing handbrake turns on ice or snow, and I never did anything more than loosen the handbrake adjuster.
