What is everyone running now that 12" tires are getting harder to find?

Went into my local tire shop the other day to pick up some tires for my wife's truck, and for a lark, asked about 12's. He looked at me like I had a second head and said that the only thing he can get are 12's for trailers.

So, other than buying trailer tires for the Festiva (if that possible/safe?), my only option is to try and go with some form of 13" and that's only if I can find something that fits with normal driving. Farmstiva I want to have back on the road this summer, so I'm looking at ... something.

Suggestions, other than the Aspire swap?

I popped a 175/70-13 this past weekend, a Michelin I got at Sam's. They don't carry and can't get them anymore, so they say. (13x5.5 rim)

So for my next trick I'm looking for some 14" or 15" rims used. More selection in 4x100 than 4x114 around here.

i bought the same size stock 12's about 3 months ago. they are called "thunderer". all four were about 250 bucks.

If you check Canadian tire this week they have advertised they have advertised 12's.

Discount Tire can order a 155/80/R12. +/- 50$ each.

I just bought two 12' tires, 6 ply, 155/88/86 R 12's from Amazon.com from a tire company on there and they are shipping to me free from NC from a tire company called Vittore tire. Paid 52.00 for each. They are all season tires. There was another tire company also that was selling 12's on Amazon. Amazon also backs these company's if you have a problem. These are also Thunderer's.

Twelves are available if you look for them, although they aren't the bargain they used to be. Most will be over $50, whereas in the past a full set mounted and balanced could be had for under $150.

The next up would be Metro 13" steel rims with new-ish 155/80s or 175/70s, if you luck out on a good set through private seller or junkyard.

12" tires scare me. I have also ridden in a Festy on 12" trailer tires. Arty was drifting the car around. That was entertaining. Do yourself a favor and switch up to a 155/70-13.

I'd like to try a 165/65-13 size sometime. I've had 165/70-13s and they were okay. The lower profile should be better though, and the width will not overdo it with a stock engine. Should give a good mix of handling and fuel economy.

If I keep Matthew, this will be the size I put on too. A little wider, and stiffer sidewall, and still lets me use Festiva KYBs on the rear without a spacer.

Keeping the overall diameter down is key when you're stock or stockish. The bigger sizes like 155/80-13 or 185/60-14 really drag the lower power engines down.

Well, got new tires put on front and balanced and took it out for drive. Before when I hit 65 the steering wheel would shake till I hit 70 then straighten out, now I hit 65, 70, 75,80 and it rides nice and smooth.
