Aspire Axle vs Brakes itself? Proportions?

I've been looking for aspire parts now that I've squeezed my already cracked and open ball joints and tie rod ends like a tube of toothpaste.

Do people just get the aspire axle for it's swaybar or is it actually needed for the brakes? Can I just go put the aspire brakes and calipers on my festiva axle and not have to change the e-brake cable or any of that?

How does the aspire brake increase affect the breaking proportions?

The brakes from the aspire are bigger than stock festy ones. Some advantages are that the rear beam has a sway-bar inside it to improve handling. 2nd you can actually change the brakes yourself(unless your really lucky and have a press @ home) 3rd changes bolt pattern to something more respected by the aftermarket industry 4x100

By axle you meant the rear axle/beam right?

My question, basically, is can I just grab the rear breaks off the spindle of an aspire rear axle or do I need the whole rear axle. I'd rather just weld some angle iron on my axle then swap the whole axle. I do, however, want those brakes.

I think they are damn near the same size.

Most people do it because of the integrated sway bar :roll:

It's only the bolt pattern that I'm interested in. Size difference would be nice, but if they are the same then that's even better.

I want to be able to get pads and shoes for one car and have one car's bolt patter (say 4x100..)

As to the SB. I plan on welding in a pipe or angle iron in the rear beam which should be stiffer then the sway bar anyway. So what does it matter?

Do you know if the aspire master cylinder can be used? Does it offer any improvement?

To answer your question. Yes you can just change the rear 'hubs" if you unbolt everything including the backing plates from the festiva rear axle the Aspire brakes will bolt up to the Festiva rear beam. However it is alot easier in my opinion to just swap the entire rear axle.

WRONG! the rear drums are proportionally bigger the the front discs from the Festiva to the Aspire

All I'm really interested in is the lug pattern. From what I've read I'd have to get the aspire e-brake cables and brake lines for the rear beam. The way pick and pull nickled and dimed me with the front brakes it's crazy. My festiva has 88K on it too, and I don't want higher mileage parts on it then the car

I tried to pull a rear beam while I was at pick and pull the other day, but it looks like I have to drop the tank to get the drivers side bolt out and this nifty little bracket is in the way for getting the passenger side bolt out. The bracket is welded to the axle. I'll have to bring a hammer next time if I grab the axle, unless there are other suggestions?

Just un bolt the brackets that mount the axle to the body. Don't try to unbolt the axle from the brackets or like you said you will have to remove the gas tank and other things that are in the way of doing it
