  • Aspire swap, but in europe?

    Hi!

I have a problem with this brakeswap, we don't have Aspire here... But I would like to do brakeswap for two different reason:
    1) front bearing/brake construction is not good
    2) I want 4x100 bolt pattern

But yeah, we don't have aspire here, and I know our Fords are different than yours. Here xr2i looks like:

Could someone have info, can this (fornt)swap be done by using Mazda 121 BD parts? It's same age as your aspire, and has 4x100 pattern.
Some pictures what I have seen, it could be possible, but in lots of cases all the pictures look the same... Also if brake swap is possible with BG (protege/Escort) parts, it would be nice to know..
Hi! Do you wanna ride with me? I have red cabrio, it has the biggest engine what was available when the car was new. It also has about every possible accessories what was available then.

Take a close look at the similarity of parts on the swap in question. The rear beam, for instance, will look almost identical to what you've got. Presumably a measuring tape will tell you if bolt holes in the frame to body are compatible and if the springs are same diameter. Rear beam is the crucial part. Front stuff you can always scavenge off an early (00-03) Kia Rio.

If your car is in good shape and you are contemplating an engine swap, upgraded suspension and brakes (and 4x100 wheels) are definitely a worthwhile improvement.

We got Kia Rio here after -02, so that doesn't work...
I already have golf coilovers installed and I want to think that my car is in a good shape. Atleast it's rare..
But I'm not planning engine swap, basically our legislation kills that idea, so I don't need more brakepower. But I would like to have 4x100 pattern for more rim options, and I think front bearing construction is awkward...

I have seen photos, and newer BD 121 front axle looks the same as DA 121, I just would have to find some parts to compare. OR if someone would have the knowledge?
Rears would be easiest to just re-drill to 4x100
