  • Drag racing Suspension

    Hi guys

So as the title states i was hoping to get a little insight as to what people have tried and used to make there Festiva hook up right at the strip, I have been in talks with a company near were i live who are willing to help with my suspension needs but they have asked me to gather as much info i can the help with some of the leg work so were not having to try 5 - 10 different springs and shocks to see what works..

So if anyone can help with spring rates and what shocks they have used i would be gratefully...

    Craig..

Slicks are the most important part. I honestly have no idea how you still hook with the fms springs. I've seen how much your car squats.

The idea is to keep the weight on the front tires...so minimize transfer. Basically stiffen the rear suspension as much as you can stand. Something like 8" 250+ lb/in coilover springs should do the trick. But your back will hate you.

I don't dump the clutch. I do a two step process to let it out, keeps the shock down. So many cars here could be a half a second faster with a good launch.

here's a brainfart idea i had long ago but never threw out here for feedback good or bad. i don't know if this would be legal on an official drag strip but what if you were to rig up a hydraulic or pneumatic system at the rear to temporarily raise the rear of the car, one or both sides to throw some weight transfer forward during launch to the front driven wheel(s) and then settle back to normal height as acceleration increases? . maybe rig it to only activate in 1st gear and then bleed off back to level. and a disable switch for street driving if the car is dual purpose. would this be unsafe?

I think it would help. I made some locks for mine but they didn't work as planned

Thanks for the help so far guys.

Just to clarify my car is no longer Road Registered so i am pretty much open to anything just have to abide by ANDRA (NHRA in OZ) and there rules.

I do have a set of MT3750R MICKEY THOMPSON STREET RADIALS 205-50-15 on the front so that should help.
