I have a complete aspire swap done but have to get new lca's and half shafts. the parts on the donor aspire look almost new. If I swap said items and sway bar will all be ok? Or am I overlooking some problem

On my swap, I used Moog LCA's for a Festiva. Also new CV axles for a Festiva. Best place to get the Moog parts, is rockauto.com. I just pulled my Aspire sway bar off and put my Festiva one back on. Again, with Moog sway bar bushings. It handles better to me with the Festiva sway bar.Jerry

You can use the Aspire sway bar, but must use the Festiva LCAs. Aspire ones will be a little too long for what you are doing. As Jerry said, get Moogs if you can. Their rubber boot seems to last longer. Also recommend treating all boots with Armor-All every 6-12 months, to prevent them from drying out.90 Festy (Larry)--B6M (Matt D. modified B6 head), header, 5-speed, Capri XR2 front brakes, many other little mods

Edit: just saw in your last post that you are using Festiva shafts, where in the previous one you implied Aspire shafts. So maybe you do have a problem waiting to happen. Or are you using Festy LCAs too? Your two posts are unclear, and seem contradictory.Last edited by TominMO; 09-12-2014, 05:37 PM.90 Festy (Larry)--B6M (Matt D. modified B6 head), header, 5-speed, Capri XR2 front brakes, many other little mods

@ william: thanks for clarification.
@ bhearts: for the Aspire swap you need the Aspire or Escort tie rod ends, as the Aspire has a different taper where the tie rod end fits into the knuckle than the Festy ones.90 Festy (Larry)--B6M (Matt D. modified B6 head), header, 5-speed, Capri XR2 front brakes, many other little mods

With all aspire stuff a festy will have a little bit negative camber from where it was in stock form. If the suspension is modded so the the lower control arm has a good angle to it from level, then the longer control arm is needed to reduce the positive camber. It is also needed to prevent the cv shafts from bottoming and vibrating. You need the outer tie rod ends to match the knuckle, either type. You need the inner tie rod to match the control arm, either type. You will need the steering rack to match the inner tie rod needed, either type. There are weaker camber bolts to correct the camber on an aspire conversion- stock height, or you can file slots in the strut bolt hole to allow the knuckle to pivot a little. If you increase castor by moving the tire forward you will increase the steering speed and tighten the turn circle a lot. The increase in scrub radius will increase steering effort a small amount but this is more than offset by greasing the bearing plate or switching to a Rio plate. King pin inclination will increase with the conversion but if camber is corrected to near normal the effect is negligible.Reflex paint by Langeman...Lifted...Tow Rig
