How in the F do you get the e-brake cable out of the handle?

How do you get this thing off? I've tried pulling, loosing tension, hammering. It's about time for wire cutters. This thing is crazy. It's the little square on the bottom that seems to be causing the problems.

I've found it easier to unbolt the handle from the floor. Also disconnect the cable at the rear. Then mess with it. I agree it is a bit of a pain.

Thanks. I got it. Theres a little slot the square goes in. I didn't see it before. I had to unbolt the handle from the floor.

Why do I need the cable with the swap? They look the same.

I've heard both. Some say use the aspire and some say use the festiva. On both of my swaps I used the aspire since it was in good shape.
