  • Wheel Studs info needed

I'm looking to convert to wheel studs (drill out and press in style). I will be using Aspire drums in the rear and Kia Rio hubs in the front. I'm also planning to use 14" Miata wheels.

    1. What would be a good "length" stud to use?

    2. Also, maybe I should get extra long to compensate for possible wheel spacers in the future? Though, with whatever tires I use with a 14x6 Miata rim, I don't think I will need any spacers. But if I decide to switch out to wider rims in the future, It wouldn't bother me if I had extra long wheel studs poking out.

    3. Does anyone know if 1st gen Miata's use wheel studs -or- a stud-style lug nut?

    4. What's everyone using? Can anyone suggest a part#?

Is there a reason you aren't going to use the screw in studs?

Im running cheap ebay screw in studs with aluminium nuts. The nuts faded from red, but the studs hacve held just fine, plenty long enough to add spacers later as well.

These are for a for taurus and work well there not super long but they have a flat side to clear the bearing area in the rear aspire drums..

Drill out the threads with 1/2 inch bit use a stack of washers and a lug nUT to pull them into place.

I've autocrossed with my screw in studs. Drove it in the mountains, pushing it in the curves, Been running them for over 4 yrs with no issues.

I would assume if you just apply the correct Loctite then Torque them to spec the screw in ones would be fine.
