  • What year Escort tie rods will work with Aspire knuckles?

    I am anxious to get my Aspire knuckles on my Festiva and am aware of the fact that the Escort tie rod ends are the way to go. After spending lots of time reading (and educating) on here I can not find a reference to what years of Escort tie rods will work. Also if anyone knows the Moog numbers can you let me know please? Also.....seems to me I have looked for inner tie rod / steering rack end boots at Napa and AutoZone and were told they are not available. Does anyone know what else is a close fit?
    Thank you!
    '88 Festiva LX 5 speed, A/C, Carb, restored $$$ body paint, badly wrecked @ 200k.
    '93 Festiva L, 5 speed, Aqua, bought from the original owner,.Zero rust but very nasty otherwise. Awaits the B6T.
    '91 Festiva L, 5 speed, bought to drive while putting the B6T in the '93. now B6ME powered.

    2nd gen 91-96 I've always used aspire ones but I hear the escort is cheaper.

      Thank you William! Do you or anyone know if boots are available for the inner tie rods/ rack and pinion ends? If they are not available does anyone know of a close substitution that will fit reasonably well?

        I just bought steering rack boots for my Aspire at Rockauto.com, check them for inner and outer tie rods too, they usually beat everyone elses prices

          EF and EG Civic boots are known to fit our racks as well.

            Thanks for the info. guys! I heard Rockauto.com is a good place to deal with but if you have time to spend you can find some very good deals on eBay. I'm trying to stick to name brand parts. I bought all Moog parts on there for my other Festiva dirt cheap as the vendor had them marked way low to move them. Just bought two new OEM genuine Ford Aspire rotors for $50 including shipping off eBay. The last time I tried to buy a brake rotor at AutoZone and O'Riely's they could not show me one that was not made in China. They may be as good as the OEM / high end name brand but for me paying a little extra gives me peace of mind.

              From a posting I did a while ago when I was looking for rack boots for my '93;

              "Turns out the boots for a '93 323 were the right I.D. on both ends and also the correct length.

              Moog # K80156 is what I ended up with."
