  • Caliper comparison

Are rio and aspire calipers interchangeable on either knuckle? In other words will rio calipers fit on aspire knuckles and vise versa?

2001-2002 Rio Calipers are the same as Automatic Aspire Calipers.
The 2003-2005 Rio calipers are more like the Protege LX/Escort GT calipers. They fit larger rotors and require a minimum of 14" wheel. I'm not sure if they directly swap on to Aspire knuckles, but it's very possible.

So do the escort calipers give more clearance for larger rotors or is it the length of the mounting arms

No. You can't put the larger egt rotors on. Not enough room. The calipers barely clear but the will bolt on and clear the Aspire rotors.

What's the benefit of the EGT calipers? Larger pistons?

They are larger, very tight in clearance. Only drove it 4 times before I broke the trans and haven't gotten it back on the road yet.
