  • I already have an aspire. How do i lift it?

The boards say changing to aspire springs raise the ride height a little bit on your festivas. what cars ford or not have the same size springs inside but would raise the car 2 inches or more? can spacers go inside to make this happen? i want this a bolt on and play affair, no fabrication or welding.

Why do you want to lift an Aspire?
1986 Comp Prep SVO Mustang(1 of 83) Four cylinder turbo! (Think first Fox body "R" model!)
1995 F-150 Extra Cab and it was free!
    1991 Festiva L, Surf Blue with A/C
1995 Jeep Cherokee 2wd 5 speed 4.0 and it was free!
1993 Aqua Festiva and it was cheap!
1994 Brake Swap and it was cheap!
1969 Ford F100 Big Block Ranger and it was free! (coming 2/12)

WOW unless your making a 4x4 aspire why lift it? And to answer your question I don't think there is any springs make by ford but taller, because usually the longer the spring the larger the diameter. Also yo uwould have to find some longer struts too. Not to mention it would probably be weak because it would be to tall on a aspire. Also your aspire has a solid rear axle that's pivot point is in front of the rear tires. You increase the springs and you might end up making your tires push to far forwards. just thinking.

go the ghetto way and go buy those 8 dollar block your "turn in" with a 3/8 drive rachett and extension and see how you like it first. But take my word and everyone elses word...don't lift it.

i was looking into this a long while back with lifting one of my festivas and came to the following conclusion:

unless you want to redesign some bracketry to drop the suspension mounting points you will end up with crazy camber issues and a crappy ride. if you do make remounting locations for everything you will also need to lower the engine some as the axles will end up being put uner alot of stress due to the extra drop the hubs have taken and will fail early.

            easiest thing to do:
buy VW golf mk II coilover sleeves and use them to raise up the car very slightly, then just run a taller diameter tire (ex: 185/80r13) and you will get a very good amount of clearance. i used that on my past festiva in conjunction with aspire springs and struts and there was rarely a day when i worried about snow or mud.

i was not trying to take the car off road, for competition jumping mudbogging or otherwise. that is what $450 samaruais are for. i bought a $450 aspire. I just wanted some clearance for yes larger tires. i wish there was a chart of oem spring dimensions of imports like height diameter thicknesses etc. i live in socal so usually all the cars i need for reasearch are in the same yard. i can also try the bolt spring spreader things like mentioned above, a guy at work said those might work too. Stupid question...coilover sleeves work with stock aspire parts--or you mean upgrade my setup to coilovers and use the vw hardware instead? i was trying to make this a very small budget thing, i dont even have coilovers on my 30k dodge neon :pottytrain3: never seen that smilie

you can get sleeves to drop over your struts that are a cheap 100$ way to either lift or drop your car, they sell on ebay all the time, i believe dropzone makes them?

Hell an aspire can have some pretty tall tires on it anyways. I have seen people put 17" rims on an aspire, so I don't see why you couldn't put a taller tire on it. Just don't jump it :-)
