  • Effing Aspire Brake Swap...

So I swapped over all the parts from my 89 over to my 90 (it runs) and I noticed the rears were pretty much touching the perch from the shock! They changed the suspension!!! Ahh... and to top it off the fronts look like hell all cockeyed... whatever, had to put away all my tools and go home because I had plans tonight. BUT how the hell do I align the front wheels? Thanks guys, -JD

    PS I hate electric seatbelts!

Really i dont tjhink anybody else has had a problem with carb'd yrs vs EFI yrs. They are really close anyway. As far as the fronts go how od you mean cockeye'd? Alingment? Camber?

Ps swap your 89 belts & such in to the festy. I hate them too.

The fronts seem to be like this \\ // (camber) and from an above perspective they might look like this: // \\ <-could just be an illusion tho! Man, I already tore up the seats! I'll just re-do the upholstry swap on a warm weekend! What do I do with all that electronic BS under the driver seat? The little module? And how can I get off the headliner without messing it up? <- sorry, it's kinda relevant but sorry to steal my own post.

Ok to start off is the car lowered or stock springs. By some camber bolts if it's lower(maybe even if not). Since you hopefully changed out the tierod's you might want to get an alingment done(after you get some camber bolts if you wanna go that route). I really dont know what that little box does, I think its for the auto seatbelts. Headliner in the 90 you will have to remove all those little push-in trim nail thingys<--technical term , the visors, interior light, & auto seatbelt surrond. I think thats all that needs to be removed, not certain though. Someone else will pitch-in in the morn/afternoon.

thanks, because i have no idea wtf a camber bold is... stock springs... is the tierod the thing that the steering (12mm) thing screws into the little knuckle thing and locks with the 17mm? Thanks again muscle.

            yes thats the tie-rod

Camber bolts are aftermarket suspension parts

you could do your front end allignment yourself if you have a flat surface.....a tape measure, and the corrisponding wrenches to loosen/adjust the tierods end with.

Yup, you can get a pretty good alignment if you measure twice and wrench once. Instructions are all over the web, especially on race sites.

Yep, the ole string trick will get it close enough to get it to the shop for the toe .
I think that link was for the string .
The string may be better than some shops are capable of
