  • Festiva Tie Rod Ends

I am doing an aspire brake swap and I wanted to know what the difference between the aspire/egt tie rod ends and the festiva tie rod ends were. Will both work? If not what would brake or wear out? The knuckles, the tie rod ends? I am asking because I am short on cash and I would like to just go ahead and use my festiva tie rod ends as long as they will work (even if not as effective as the aspire ones) until I can get the cash or until they give me a problem. Thanks in advance.

The taper of the seat is wrong. This means that instead of the whole thing fitting snugly, only a small portion does. As it wears, the tie-rod end works itself loose in the steering knuckle and your steering goes all wobbly. If the castle nut works itself off or the stud breaks, you lose steering on that wheel.

I wouldn't feel safe using the festiva ends, but it's up to you.

Ok, yeah I guess I would be better off just switching them out then, any advice on or tips on getting the tie rod ends loose? I couldnt get em loose for the life of me when I tried.

be carfull!!! i bent an inner tireod end trying to get the outer off.... yea, they are a pain!! i soaked mine in PB for days, then in a desparate attempt torched it... bad idea, thats how i bent it.
if you can get the rod end off and just not the inner nut (which is what happened to me) then i'd use a impact wrench if you can, but other than that i don't know!

Get the escort ends. They are way cheaper than if you ask for the aspire ones. You can ebay it too.

Usually I leave them in the spindle then break the jam nut loose. The drivers side on my daily driver was too tight to move so I did my toe in on the passengers side. Use a torch to heat up the nut.

back the 17mm nut off allmost to the end smack it with a hammer from underneath. And if that doesn't work a pickle fork will.

torches. Heat it till the nut is red hot and it will come off.
