I am stuck on the front brakes of the aspire swap right now. I read that the brake hose from the festiva will fit the aspire caliper and I have come to the conclusion that either I have a dud brake hose or that was false information. When i fill the hole on the brake caliper with the pin from the brake hose the hole to thread the screw through does not line up with the whole on the caliper. Any advice would be apreciated.

Aspire Swap Problem

I had to use the aspire hose on my swap because I had the same problem you are having, it just doesn't line up when you use the festiva one. The aspire hose does bolt up directly to the metal tubing though, so all you need is just the rubber hose that goes between the metal tube and the caliper. No festiva for me ATM...

I've held the steel end fitting on the rubber line with vise grips and used a flare nut wrench on the steel line. I've always been able to remove them that way. A good 10mm flare nut wrench is essential in doing brake line work.

Yep, getcha a real good quality flare nut wrench and use lots of PB Blaster, etc.
The first thing I look for on a used Festiva are all four brake line junctions where the rubber hose meets the metal line under the wheel wells. That's how much influence that old rusty '89L Mutt has had on me.
That "influence" can also be spelled, "CORROSION INDUCED NIGHTMARE."

Hey, while there are some people doing the swap I need to ask a question...
the rear axle beam pivot bolts... does everyone just take the pivot bolts out or has anyone transferred the mounts also? the mounts on my festy are pretty nasty looking and I was wondering if I could swap them also.... This also will effect my frame stiffening project.

I made one atempt at mine and said I wasnt breaking them. The aspire broke 2 taking them out. Surprising, the 2 main bolts came right out. But on the driers side I had to use a hammer and 2x4 to bend my tank."Look, I have long hair, tats and smoke like a chimney.. All of my customers know it.. Don't like it? Don't turn over my rock."
