  • Spring rates ...

Can someone tell me if the stock front spring rates from an Auto festy are the same as Manual trans versions? ...

I have an issue with a strut swap from an auto into a manual car and the front end seems to be jacked up slightly, either that or my rears are toast and can't handle the weight transfer of the B6FI ...

they should be the same for both the auto and the manual versions. If you just swapped the front suspension and not the rear, then the front might be riding higher due to the fact that the rear is just sagging down a lot compared to the newer, stiffer fronts. Hope this helped at least a bit...

No, I can't answer that. They could be different, but I've never seen any evidence.

Don't know if it's true or not, but I've heard that 4 door Aspire springs are slightly stiffer. That might only apply to the rear though.

these are the paint marks and corresponding wire diam. of 90-93 front springs. RED .393" / BLUE .397" / BROWN,PEACH,WHITE .401". you are most likely to find the .401 springs on the LH side of automatic LX,L PLUS and GL cars. the RH spring is usually .397. canadian L is .401 on the LH side auto or manual. US L model is .397 on LH side. generally all models have one size smaller spring on the RH side and the US L model has the smallest diam of .393 on the RH side

              WOW!!!

A wealth of information thanks F3BZ! ...And HTCHBCK, I would have thought the same only the fronts came from an old Auto festy racer and were beat quite a bit ...

BTW I was talking about a complete strut swap not just the springs.

I'll check into the colour tags and post back ...Thanks guys!

Ah, so that's what those colored spots on the springs are for!

                Thanks F3BZ!
