  • Something you might want to check on your car

I did my front wheel bearings today....well, one so far. =)

I went to remove my driver's side brake rotor. There's two screws holding it on. BOTH were just finger tight!

Something tells me that can't be safe.

So next time your wheels are off you might want to check that.

Do you have the Aspire setup? If so, the wheel will hold it in place tight.

The caliper should hold it in place where it really needs to be.

So if it came off it would just rattle a lot and damage your rotors and might ruin your seats.

If it is the aspire setup then the 2 screws that hold the rotor to the hub are not needed the studs do all the work. If it is the festiva then the bolts that hold the rotor to the hub are very important. These need to be there and need to be tight, all the braking force goes thru them.

doesn't matter b/c the lugs hold it in place regardless.

those screws are only there for assembly purposes. I removed mine ages ago.

Only on the aspire brakes, the festivas bolt on from the rear of the hub flange.

I figured the lugs would hold it in place anyways, but I'd rather all the screws and bolts and nuts on my car be a little bit past hand tight at least.
