  • Woo Hoo Hoosier slicks came today! (dial up warning)

My used race slicks came the other day, and one was cut, so the guy sent me TWO more free..

Now I have a decent set of 70%+ slicks, plus a good spare, and one Ferret toy!

Total delivered price? $119.00 for 5 decent tires!!

If ANYONE needs some decent used slicks, let me know and I will turn you onto his user name. He sells these even cheaper than they are listed on ebay, just make him an offer, and more than likely, he will accept it!

I ended up getting the low profile 20x8x13 inchers. Hoosier calls for a 5.5" to 6" rim, I was surprised... I ordered 7" Diamond road race wheels with a 4.5" backspace, but once these tires came, and I can see how stiff the sidewalls really are, it's evident that they will NOT fit on a 7" rim, due to the way the tire is made. Take a look at the photos.

I called Diamond and had them weld up a set of 13x6" with 3.5" backspacing. With plenty of measuring, this seems like it will be perfect for the 8" wide tire.... and the things only have about a 2-2.5" STIFF sidewall, so there should be NO squirm whatsoever on the track.

More pictures once my wheels get here!!!

    FERRET Approved!!!

Sweet they look to be in good shape. Hoosier has always been known for stiff sidewalls. Bias-ply tires are not DOT approved and are stickier than almost all DOT approved AutoX tires. They should be quite an improvement over the Sumitomo's! Can't wait to see the pictures with them mounted. -Kyle

        Check out his store here:

Just choose the category (rim size, etc) on the left.

Like I said, make a reasonable offer on anything he has, and he will sell it to you.

His shipping isn't too bad either, he charged me $58 on an order that said $60 shipping, and then turned around and refunded my PayPal an additional $9.00 when it came in even cheaper!! HONEST GUY!!

He measures them in several places and stands behind his description.

Like I said, one of mine came in with a cut on it, that he missed, and he shipped me TWO additional tires OVERNIGHT, at no charge.. I couldn't believe they were here the next day (today, I only sent a complaint yesterday!)

Now, for my Diamond racing wheels to get here!!!

I have to agree with Kyle, it is KILLING me that I have to race Sunday without my slicks on...

Check out this set, not a LOT of life left in them, but still... shipping to Cincy, from Tennesee is $60, so it would make this set $80 for me.... lol

And although it doesn't say it... I am pretty sure those are the Hoosier DOT series (see ribs?)

Overall diameter would be 21.9 before the wear, so those might be perfect as they are VERY close to stock size (except a lot wider....) the right backspace would rock these tires (for the price)

              Here is another great deal!!

21.5x8x13's designed for an 8 inch wheel.... with coilovers, or some other method of keeping them from rubbing, these would rock, for $40 plus shipping!

OK, I am not advertising for this guy, just loving the deals!!

I will report back when I get these on the asphalt!

mine came in last friday...i got the 22.5x7.5x13's they fit on my civic VX wheels no problem. The only prob;em is that the sidewall hits the spring perch but that can be fixed with a set of hub centric spacers, maybe 1/2"-34". With out spacers they tuck inside the fenders so i figure witht he spacers they will be a perfect fit. By the way that guy is cool to deal with, got mine for 96 bucks shipped for 2

Killer, I have to wonder about the overly tall tire though. Let me know how it does with acceleration. My current 21.7" tires rub as it is, under cornering, so I know I couldn't run anything taller than that without raising my suspension.

^ I believe that also has to do with the offset of your wheels since I run those exact sized tires and I have no rubbing and I'm pretty sure I am lower than you...

^ well, it could be, these alloys have 4 3/4" back spacing, 5.5" wheel, they only rub when turned full one way or the other. So, it doesn't rub when going straight, the tire has to be turned...

That certainly won't be a problem with these 20" er's I can't wait to try them, but Diamond says at LEAST another week, so it will be next race at least before I get a chance to run the slicks.

Not sure how low mine is, compared to yours, but the 21.7" rubber is darned close to fender lip. Supposedly just FMS springs in front, the rear are FMS with one coil removed.

Here is a shot of the front, with the 21.7" tires, you can see how they tuck in fine going straight, but how close they are to the lip of the fender, and how they will rub when going hard left or right and braking..

Do you have any close ups with your street tires on Kyle?

I don't have any clsoe up's and in fact your car sits lower than mine (I don't like/need my car that low). But I do know that my car is lower than when I had the FMS Springs by about 1/2" so I know that with your car being as stripped as it is, that those springs are cut at least a little bit. -Kyle
