Does anyone know the parts numbers for the two hoses that are on the side of the air filter assy?

Ford has a name for that aluminum device on the right hand side of the air cleaner to which the hoses attach but I can't remember or find it. (The cylindrical valve on the front side is called an air control valve.) Maybe someone else remembers it's name. If you had the name you might be able to search by the name for the hoses.Original owner of silver grey carburetted 1989 Festiva. 105k km as of June 2006. 140k km as of June 2021.

Part# is E8BZ9B466A. Don't see any of these available nationwide. Maybe if you get the I.D. dimension you could web search for L-Shape heater/radiator hose. you might find something that will fit. Maybe search a Gates catalog or NAPA . They might have something.

Pulse air system - thanks for remembering, aka secondary air injection. Internet says purpose is to increase efficiency of catalytic converter, ie emissions reduction. Catalytic converter is an after burner to consume unburnt hydrocarbons in exhaust and apparently adding a bit of fresh air oxygen helps it do that better. Here in Ontario emissions testing (smog check) has been discontinued so maybe no longer required? Perhaps engine will run fine with holes plugged? Interesting that Haynes manual photos of carburetted engine all show rear hose missing - wonder why that is.Last edited by WmWatt; 08-21-2023, 02:32 PM.Original owner of silver grey carburetted 1989 Festiva. 105k km as of June 2006. 140k km as of June 2021.

Those (and the rest of the EGR system) get deleted with the Escort carb swap you've been asking about.'88 L- B6d-Sidedraft Dellorto Carbs-G-Series-Advanced Suspension

^^EGR is separate system with different purpose. Exhaust gas is recirculated, hence EGR, into the cylinders to reduce temperature and reduce concentration of nitrous oxide in exhaust. Seems higher temperatures generate higher concentrations of nitrous oxide (NO2 - nitrous dioxide?). I remember reducing elevated NO2 in emission test by cleaning EGR valve on my carburetted engine, a delightfully simple procedure.Original owner of silver grey carburetted 1989 Festiva. 105k km as of June 2006. 140k km as of June 2021.

Gotcha, Bill's car has the EGR delete sticker and those hoses are gone (or maybe just one of them?), I just assumed it was part of the EGR system.'88 L- B6d-Sidedraft Dellorto Carbs-G-Series-Advanced Suspension
