slight set back....

Im working on minguns engine, I have it crank side up on the engine stand getting ready to put the pan on and went into the house to get something. I have it by the door of the garage , better light and a nice breeze.

Girl friend drives by on lawn mower and pumps my engine full of sand, leaves and dirt.

Spent the last night and today pulling it down , cleaning and putting it back together.

I know its not the same but my dad did the same thing to some car parts i had just sprayed.......So i fell the pain....

Im thinking about leaving the timing belt cover off, kind of like the old rare 427 SOHC gilmer belt drive.

Thats entirely your choice, but in my opinion having the belt showing gives it more of a mechanical look by everything being exposed instead of the plastic look of the modern cars, plus you'd be able to know what kind of condition the belt is in with out getting dirty, but in the same sense they came with timing belt covers for a reason

You could make something out of a steel mesh or something like that. Then you could retain some of the open look yet have something over it in case the belt shredded.

::warning:: having the belt exposed can cause premature wear and dry rot, inspect/replace belt annualy!!

Engine and subframe inplace, have to wait for valve shims to arrive so I can finish adusting valves and putting the top half of the motor on, will get the wheels and tires on tomorrow

Purdy!!!!! every now and then a Sho shows up to our junkyard and I always feel like pulling just because it is such a good looking engine.

mocked up some more parts. was going to install half shafts but forgot to glass bead / paint inner half shaft.
