  • miniguns oil system

    Because of the headers ( and other stuff) I decided to move the oil filter off the engine.

    The big problem with the SHO / Yamaha engine is two fold. First it used a fat oil cooler ( heater) between the filter and block and this uses a odd 20mm threaded hole in the block and long nipple. The hardest part was to find a short 20mm to 3/4 conversion nipple ( dont google 20mm nipples, it doesnt take you to car parts)

    I did find a comapny that made one and it only set me back $8.00, The rest of the stuff is standard AN fittings and stuff

        try this link;

        I stick with Motorcraft and Purolator (manufactures Motorcraft filters), they seem to be the best for cost, while the Mobile One seems to be the highest quality without taking price into account.

          I think it would be a waste to try to a save a few bucks on filters now, this project has already suffered a little bit of an "over run"

                            Even the china-mart $2.88 filters are better. The end cap is stamped the same "y" as a k&n. I'm sure the guts arent the same. with that relocate unit you should try to get the mopar/toyota/ford thread that accepts the fl-1a size.

                              from another forum i'm on, there's a gentleman who works in the oil industry (read: tester and analyzer :: i can't spell: he did some testing on readily available filters for flow and containment (filtering dirt), Mobile-1 came out on top. i'll have to look up the thread later to give you the rundown.
