bleading brakes is easy, all you need is some fish tube, an empty oil bottle, and about 2.5 x the system volume of fluid. start with the right rear and crack open the bleeder. attach the tube and run it up over the top of the drum and then down into the empty bottle. support the bottle so it doesn't tip over and secure the tube so it doesn't move from it's looped virtical position. now fill the resivoir and place the cap on top, but don't lock it down, keep it loose. ge inside and give the peddal a few good pushes (slow down and fast up) you should eventually feel the fluid pushing out into the bottle and as the bottle fills, it creates an air trap for any bubbles. the first is the longest and hardest to do. keep pumping untill you see new fluid and no bubbles (it will continue to gravity bleed even when you're not pumping). do the same for the left rear, right front and left front in that order. always remember to keep the resivoir FULL.

That's the way I do all mine. Never have any problems. The only thing I do differently is to fill the bottle a bit so the bottom of the hose is in the fluid.

Back to the tranny swap today. A couple of the last pieces of the puzzle extracted from the parts car this morning. (shifter linkage and clutch cable). The project car has parts from about a dozen other cars. Maybe I should call it Frankenstein ?

Still needs new tires. Couldnt find any 185/60/13s today. I also waiting on a factory fuel filter I bought off ebay for $11 ( in came with an oil filter too ) Parts stores wanted $28 for the same fuel filter. I think its got here today but its at my parents house. Have to install cable and linkage, get a battery, drain old gas, put interior back in. Oh yeah get a down pipe and hook it up to the exhaust. And add fluids, hope I dont forget that. Then Im going to turn the key and see what happens. That will be a scary moment !!! Started on this March 7th ( not including the wire harness swap )so I might break the 60 day deadline. Ive spent a lot of time on this.sigpic

I just called them and he is seeing if they are in stock. If so, he said $165 cash 'n carry or $175 mounted and balanced. Bridgestones. It's an employee discount, and employees don't get charged for mount and balance, only tire disposal.
Stop the press. Guy just called, said they are on backorder but would know by next week if he can get a set from Chicago. Remind me in the middle of the week and I'll call him and see what the staus is.ENFORCER - Midwest Festiva Inc., Iowa
