    • ^Sounds like you need new wheel cylinders or have a rusted out brakeline... needing new shoes would not cause it to leak fluid..

      • Yeah I figured that out Fred, I first thought when I looked in there that it was pushing it out to far and the fluid was getting out.. I was wrong lol, yeah I need new cylinders, but might as well throw the new shoes in there while I'm at it..

              • lol, I wouldn't get the tires from the spot where I'd get the beam at anyway, they dont sell much for tires. But there are other junkyards around here that sell pretty decent sets of tires.

                • The car is driveable again!! replaced the cylinder and the shoes, but had a hard time getting the drum to go over the new shoes, finally had to mess with the e-brake a little and set it all the way in. But she's back to normal now

                  • Well I went to the junkyard on Tuesday and got myself an Aspire rear axle beam! I bought all new brake shoes, cylinders and hold down springs, plus new brake lines that connect to the cylinders. Well I got one side done and ready to go, but then I turned the axle around to do the other side, got the dust cover off, and was expecting to just turn the nut off by hand, but it wouldn't budge. So I grabbed the ratchet and I still couldn't get it to turn off... I knew this was bad because they are supposed to be loose.. I took the impact to it, and the impact could barely get it off! Once the impact broke it loose, it just spun.. didnt come off the bolt/shaft!! I was getting pissed. But I took a screwdriver and pryed up on the drum, so the nut started to come off, and then as I kept prying up on it, it kept coming off as I put more pressure on it. Then once it came off, I looked at the nut, and absolutley NO threads on the nut. Then I took the drum off and wiped the grease off the shaft, and noticed the threads weren't too bad on it, but still stripped a little. UGH, so now I'm going to have to get a different shaft for it too.. Something I was not expecting to have to do.. Well I could tell someone was in there at one time too, because the cotter pin that was before the nut wasn't bent back, it was just shoved thru the hole. And the dust cover didn't have any grease in it. So does this mean all my bearings are shot in the drum?

                    • Take the nut back off the other drum and see if it threads on that side. It might have reverse threads. Iv had that happen before but didn't get out the impact so no harm done.
