So here are some pics from yesterday:

and then some pics from today. I changed out my left headlight with one from the JY and I worked on changing out the OHC dome light with an escort unit but haven't finished it yet. I need to either read a thread on it or look at what Nate did for his. Pics will be posted on that in this thread later. I also got a light for the hatch and that will come later as well. Soon, I think I am going to start stripping the interior so I can get to some of that rust in the floor, oil the seat racks so they'll move hopefully a little easier...and idk, whatever is next I suppose

    with the headlight installed:

I really wished we could have got you that complete rear out of the 89 at the JY while we were there. That one was clean. And I may have a lead on some other parts for you. Give me a few days to get back on the family schedule and I will get back to you. It was good to meet you.

yeah man. I had a great time and for sure look forward to getting to know you and the others. Take your time on the parts. I need to do some more research on the swap.

And I need a little time to recoup the transfer, taxes, tags, etc and two 12 inch tires and possibly two more to get those winter tires off my front end. Plus, my old employer didn't withold my taxes correctly (only 1% instead of 8-10% which I am going to try to report to tax advocate and see what they say or who they send me to for their mispractice and causing me to lose money when I filed my W4 correctly) so we owe money this year...

I need to do some research on that swap too. I guess I need the full rear beam and everything outside external from there and then the front axles from the splines outward. I'm guessing the splines are the same for the aspires as the festivas. And yeah, I haven't looked at them yet but the bolts on my rear beam will be a PITA but I'll just have to take my time and be extremely patient.

If you want to switch to 13's, I have 3 steelie Hyundai wheels here. You are welcome to them until you do the swap. They bolt right on a Festy. You can find a 4th easily, they came on most of the Hyundai cars. 13" tires are easier to find than the 12's, unless you are trying to keep it original. I will get you a complete rear Festy beam, then if you go Aspire later you will know exactly how to do it.

that'd be awesome. I could use two on the front and have a spare since the rears are already all season tires. the fronts are winters and...it's getting warm out so idk if I'm going to wear them out quicker with the warm weather or not. I've actually never had winter tires before...so not much experience there. And as far as temporary rims go, I don't really care what it looks like.

if you find an aspire rear assy in good condition you might as well go with that. for now I'm just going to deal with all that rust. If I take out the interior and the back seat is there any way I can spray wd down into the bolts or are the bolts for the rear beam up in the frame or hidden or something? If I can spray them and let it sit for weeks and let it get down in there they'll come out a lot easier.

X2! I don't even need it, and I thought about taking it. So clean and pretty. Sounds like you're making progress, which is always good. Didn't actually realize you swapped the light right there in the front yard. Nice.
Cool meeting you, considering the circumstances.

              Now, back to work, you.

haha. yeah scott, it was bitter sweet. it's never fun meeting for these types of circumstances but regardless of how new anyone is festy family is family and I'm glad I got to be apart of honoring Dean and learning what an Awesome guy he is and what he stands for. Eventually when I start doing some crazy cool projects I'm sure I'll be learning tons from Dean.

Yeah, I did the left head light and the dome light. The dome light is still not working though...will have to figure that out later. the map lights aren't very bright but I'm glad they work. I may need to clean the lenses or something?? idk...

As far as the rear beam goes, Jay is helping me out with that. Super appreciated btw. I need to figure out how NOT to bust any of those 6-8 bolts though. Tomorrow I'm going to go work on nate's ninja with him but in the morning I may start tearing out the back seat and pull the carpet forward so I can see if I can get to those bolts inside the hatch area to spray them and soak em with WD. I'll probably go pick up some PB so I can spray the bolts from underneath. rusty bolts suck...and I haven't even looked at them yet. haha

^^Judging by the other rust in that area, I'd agree that hitting those bolts with PB early and often is a good idea. Just got back in myself, going to work on mine tomorrow, depending on the weather. Having no garage really hinders the progress. :banghead:

                  Anyway, keep us posted.

Might give the lower rear strut bolts a couple of good soakings too. Always a problem !

it's not working because of a ground issue with the door sensors or something weird. I'll ask nate about it/look at his setup. And yeah, LED's would work great. The map lights aren't DIM but they aren't bright either. Probably for the best though I think they'll work fine. I checked the bulb the other day for the dome light and it looks alright. I guess i could buy a couple and see if it changes anything.

hahahaaa...don't take this wrong but that's a good drive just for a JY run. aaaand I'm jobless at the moment. so money is super tight and some JY's are anal on prices. Time and Google are my friends. but someday...someday we just might do that.
