  • My B3 rebuild

So today me and a couple friends decided to pull my engine and find out what was causing the low compression and excessive blow by. Just as they had thought and I feared, I had two cracked pistons and a really bad scared head. So I will be rebuilding my B3.

I will try to post pictures as we go. Due to our work schedule, we are only going to be able to do this on the weekend, but lucky for us we have a long weekend coming up, so hopefully I will be up and running right in a few weeks.

Here are a few pictures so far. Hope you enjoy!!!

I'm a firm believer of "working smart not hard". The first time I had to pull the engine, me and a buddy had lifted it out ourselves and halfway threw it he informed me he had a hoist.

                Naw. she bakes as well

Yeah, I am lucky, I think.....

Actually, she is fairly strong, but the B3 weighs so little! I think I remember that I pulled the head off first, as well, just to be sure of a light load.....

Still, I don't think that lightened it too much. The 2X4, resting across the fenders, 2 people, one on each side, can crouch with a shoulder under the board. Stand up, and remove engine

It seemed like Christmas today. I got my head back from the machine shop and a few hours later I got my rebuild kit from Rock Auto. Hopefully the weather will stay nice this weekend so I can put it all back together and be back on the road. I will post pictures as we go along.
