Rebuilt the turbo on my '86 TurboCoupe when it had 157K on it. There was no evidence of "surge" etc. Everything mic'd good. Never heard anything coming from the turbo on my SVO either when you get out of it. Maybe "surge" was "invented" by BOV manufacturers........was running 15lbs of boost on TBird and 18 in the SVO.....1986 Comp Prep SVO Mustang(1 of 83) Four cylinder turbo! (Think first Fox body "R" model!)
1995 F-150 Extra Cab and it was free!
1991 Festiva L, Surf Blue with A/C
1995 Jeep Cherokee 2wd 5 speed 4.0 and it was free!
1993 Aqua Festiva and it was cheap!
1994 Brake Swap and it was cheap!
1969 Ford F100 Big Block Ranger and it was free! (coming 2/12)

My turbo coupe has 182,000 on it with no BOV. 18-20psi for the past 40,000 or so. Turbo is still good.
However I do get that surgy sound in my festy at low boost...light acceleration. If you get in it the bov seems to open farther.91GL BP/F3A with boost
13.79 @ 100, 2.2 60' on 8 psi and 155R12's

Hey you guys do what you want just trying to help prevent your turbo from surge and who doesn't like the sound of a bov?
